Amber is fossilized tree resin solidified millions of years ago; Amber often has insects, petals of flowers and seeds locked inside. Amber is one of the oldest gems known to man. Jewelry made from amber was found in graves that are more than 8,000 years old. In ancient Greece it symbolized the sun God and in the Roman Empire it was set in expensive jewelry. In other nations it was considered "the oath stone" and was given as a wedding present.
